FOOTBALL BETTING TIPS
Football betting tips can help you beat your football bookie. Many unsuspecting football bettors walk into the game thinking they're going to beat the book. The Rams are going to crush Cinci right? Well, the Rams may very well crush Cinci but will they cover the spread? Welcome to the land of smoke screens and confusion. Take the points or lay the points? Handicap with stats or trends? We can say one thing, football betting is very similar to a woman...."Very beautiful, makes you feel good, and very sexy, however not always what they appear to be!" The spread is no joke folks. It will make you scream with joy or cry like a baby.
Take the points or lay the points?
Well, this is something that we can't really answer but is surely something in which we can offer some insight. As a general rule of thumb, you don't want to be sitting on -2.5, -6.5, 9.5, or -13.5 as in our opinion this is the sportsbook giving the bettor the impression the favorite only has to win by a field goal, a touchdown, a touchdown and a field goal, or two touchdowns. Don't play into their hands! We're not saying NEVER to lay these numbers, just to take a real good look at them before you do so. We dont lay these numbers, we actually bet on the dog in this case, and in some cases we even do this blindly as we're firm believers the book uses such trickery to dupe unsuspecting bettors into betting on these favs. Furthermore, we'd rather take the points anyway. A football bounces in weird directions and we're much bigger fans of starting out a game with some points than starting out behind which is what your doing if your betting on favorites.
Handicap or use trends?
There's a saying "let the trend be your friend". Well, sorry folks but we think this is pure bullshit. The only friend of a trend is a bookie. While we can't explain the law of average, it's damned amazing how many 11-1 in their L12 games result in being 11-2 by the time the clock whittles down to 0:00. Try to focus on things that offer more substance such as its raining and both these teams have strong running games so I think I'll take the under....OR the leagues best passing offense is going up vs. the NFL's worst passing defense. Now thats something to focus on, not some stinking trend that may have happened when a team was comprised by a different group of players! Who gives a shit that the Bills have beaten Miami 4 in a row but haven't played each other since 1997! Hey, if you buy into that stuff, we've fot some oceanfront property in North Dakota to sell you! TV Games
Folks! If your consistently betting favorites and/or overs on nationally televised games your going to get smoked! The book knows who plays on TV and also knows that most football bettors can't help themselves when faced with taking a solid team laying points vs. a crappy team getting points. They know your salivating to bet on the favorite! So what the books do is inflate the line a little, which you may be able to beat TODAY, however, over the long term you'll be broke if you practice this method. While betting every dog wont work either, please make sure you do your homework and not betting into an inflated line! How many times have you bet on the TV favorite and ended up trying to bail yourself out with a double wager on a halftime bet! Yikes, this is the quickest way to the poorhouse. The same is to be said for overs. Books know most games fall around 38 so if your betting anything over 38 on a NATIONALLY TELEVISED game, you may wanna rethink your strategy. Again, this doesn't mean all games, we're talking long term here folks. The book doesn't care if you win today, they wanna beat you up slowly and milk you on a regular basis. Don't get duped, dogs and unders are ALWAYS the first thing you should consider when betting on tv games!
